Introduction to the Chen-style Taijiquan
TCMTaiji Network Health Preservation Center - Chen Style Taijiquan Training
Taijiquan originates from the Chenjiagou village in Wenxian county of Henan, China, where Chen Wang Ting as representative of the 9th Generation of the Chen family at about 1760 created a set of Taiji boxing by combining the basis of martial arts passed on by his ancestors with the principles of the Yi Qing (The Book of Changes) and Yin and Yang, the TCM theory of meridians, and Daoyin and Tu Na (mainly daoist physical and breathing exercices). Its characteristics are the mutual interaction of Yin and Yang, hard and soft, the alternation between fast and slow and the speciality of relaxation, liveliness, elasticity and vibration, that are in accord with the human body’s biological rules and the natural principle of circulation. twining can promote the blood circulation, which has a positive effect on the metabolism of the cardiovascular system and thecapillary vessels. It enhances the activity and functionality of bones, muscles, joints and the nerve system and improves the production of blood cells. During breathing the diaphragm moves up and down in a large amplitude, which has the effect of an internal massage for the five organs and six intestines. It can further increase several aspects of the immune system.
